Impact of Xyrem on dream recall
01/14/17 9:21 PM

Since the last post was in 2009, I don't know if I'm going to get a response before 2025, but it's worth a shot... I have narcolepsy, and I used to have very vivid dreams that would start before I fell asleep and continue after I woke up. I always remembered my dreams. Sometimes, the only way I knew I'd slept at all was because I remembered dreaming, even when things were at their worst and I could only sleep for 15-20 minutes at a time during the night.

Since I started taking Xyrem, I'm able to get deep sleep at night, so I'm able to stay awake during the day, but it's a lot more difficult to remember my dreams. Waking up is no longer the confusing overlap of dream reality on waking reality the way it used to be... Either I wake up to my alarm, or I just realize at some point that I'm awake. Does anyone else take this medication and find that they have the same difficulty with remembering dreams? If so, have you found anything that helps with this?
