"Die a Spell"

Rating
Monday, December 23 1968

Morning of December 23, 1968. Monday.        I hear, in the distance, and seemingly in a loud young voice, someone shout "die a spell" as if part of a western movie or "Gunsmoke" (the television show). It seems so melancholy and yet somehow so matter-of-fact and stoic at the same time. I am not sure what it means or what it is connected to. It may also even relate to the beginning of a Beatles concert across the street that I ha

Pterodactyl Kite Becomes Real Pterodactyl

Rating
Friday, December 20 1968

Morning of December 20, 1968. Friday.        Brenda W is with me at North Monroe in Arcadia. We are on the south side of the apartment house, at about the middle of the yard. She is impressed by the pterodactyl kite I have. The only problem is that it is an actual pterodactyl which I think got caught in the strings of my "real" kite. Scaffold or Fire Escape

Rating
Thursday, December 19 1968

Night of December 19, 1968. Thursday.         This was sparsely recurring, but only in my early years. It may be an association with the rickety wooden staircase from when I lived on Rose Street. I am on the roof of my school but in order to leave, I need to climb down over the edge of the roof to use a fire escape or scaffold - though sometimes there is the idea that it had been removed or had fallen. Later on, other dreams (including "B

Where’s my House?

Tuesday, December 3 1968

Night of December 3, 1968. Tuesday.        Earlier today, my mother and I had been at the small public library in Arcadia. The female librarian had dramatically spoken of the National Geographic Special "Reptiles and Amphibians" being scheduled for this evening. It seems that it is certainly something I am going to watch.         In reality, I did see it, but my dream created a different history. My mother and I s

To the Rescue (at school)

Rating
Sunday, December 1 1968

Morning of December 1, 1968. Sunday.         A commonly recurring dream was being in classroom and a teacher had made a female classmate (often Linda, a real-life classmate) sit by the window so as to get her and her schoolwork paper wet from rain blowing in. Somehow I was always able to make the teacher then sit in that spot and "rescue" her and embarrass him. This seems to have been done solely by pointing and making a facial expre
