Xenomorphs

Rating
Friday, March 3 2017

6. A young woman is running down an empty hall in a spaceship, trying to escape from a bunch of xenomorphs. She has a semi-automatic and shoots behind herself without looking. She hits them all, but at the end of the hall there is a closed door which she slams into and the dying xenomorphs slam into her, and she gets pinned beneath a pile of acid-dripping bodies. She only has her gun hand free and shoots herself in the temple.

Knitter/detective and the desert flood orchestra

Rating
Thursday, March 2 2017

  1. I work in a surreal sort of plant as a knitter, one among many. The rest aren’t happy with their work conditions and go on a strike; however, I take pride in my work and sit high atop a tangle of silver steel pipes outside, knitting with green wool while the others are shouting and protesting on the lawn below. The pipes are cold, although the day is sunny and it is summer.     2. An unfamiliar young woman has a bullet hole in her coccyx. I am her friend and

Bloodsoaked

Rating
Sunday, February 12 2017

  1. I lived in a crammed room with my mother and brother. Our ages were off – I was 19 and he was 10. The room was light and clean, but stuffed to the ceiling with various objects, leaving just a narrow U-shaped path. My corner behind the wardrobe was mostly filled with books and boxes. I sat there with my laptop, studying Finnish. I knew I had a girlfriend in the dream and mother was happy that I pose no competition for the affections of potential step-fathers. My brother got a w

The name day of baby Jesus

Rating
Tuesday, February 7 2017

1. I’m attending a work meeting in what looks like the biology classroom in my old school – a multi-level room with worn, scratched desks. The coordinator gives a small bouquet of flowers to every Catholic in the room, saying “Happy name day of baby Jesus!”. When she gets to me, she spreads all the remaining flowers all over my desk. There are forget-me-nots, tiny pink roses and white tulips. I don’t have the heart to tell her that I don’t go to church any

War slave and widower

Rating
Saturday, February 4 2017

The conversations in these dreams were in Old Russian that I barely understood, and responded in modern Russian. 1. There was a big victory parade in a huge, red brick hall illuminated by wagon wheel chandeliers. I was a war slave, one among many, and we were expected to swear fealty to our new masters. The masters had both the Bible and Quran, but I couldn’t make an oath on either, and swore on a fencing manual, after which I had to prove my prowess with a sword. The next day I

Rocky beach and B&B

Rating
Friday, January 27 2017

I'm at the seaside in Scotland, watching the waves with my mother. There is a flat rock with a hole in the middle and with each wave water shoots up from it like out of a geyser. There is another rock standing apart as a small island and I see some movement there, but cannot yet discern what it is. I wade as far as I can, then swim to it and see that those are pink jellyfish and some little stingrays stranded there. I pick up jellyfish, carefully cupping them in my hands and release

Guerrilla ghost fighter

Rating
Wednesday, January 18 2017

1. After a civil uprising Miss Vanessa Ives had joined a small guerrilla group who were hiding in the wintry forest, a dozen people or less. One day they were looking for provisions and ammunition in an abandoned village, and came accross an empty barn where a mob of peasants had surrounded and attacked a knight; he was heavily armoured and all bloodied from a stabbed wound in his head, but still alive. A young fighter, barely sixteen, and the only other woman in the group had walked in firs

Normal vampire family (Alternating POV)

Rating
Friday, December 23 2016

A girl of about eighteen was hidden in a remote house by her vampire lover; she had a live-in doctor looking after her. The point of view (POV) was alternating between these three characters.  The middle-aged male doctor: The vampire is quite condescending while the girl isn't nearly as dim as he thinks. They live in a remote mansion in snowy countryside, with windows boarded over to make it look abandoned. However, somebody finds out that it is inhabited and we have to leave eve

Self-defense

Rating
Wednesday, December 7 2016

I had some confidential information on a flash drive and had to get somewhere safe to use it for my writing. I was waiting in the Hometown train station for a train to get out of the town. I had Kiddo with me and a woman showed up and started sweet-talking at her, offering sweets and coloured pencils. I screamed: "Don't touch my child!" and Kiddo seemed scared. I scooped her up and ran to a house on Station road where we locked ourselves in and spent the night there. In the morning

Building snowmen and all the trouble that followed

Rating
Monday, September 19 2016

It was a winter night and me, Miller and some other people were building snowmen in the front garden of the university. There was plenty of snow on the ground, but we had our own in big plastic containers, coloured and layered - white on top, then red and blue. I made mine big and white, and Miller his - small and cherry red. Then there was the part that seemed unrelated at first. I was standing up to my hips in a river, holding the leash of a dog that was waiting behind me on the bank. It w
