Private secretary to another dreamer

Rating
Sunday, March 26 2017

2. Seoul, an office in one of the upper floors of a skyscraper, late evening. I work as a private secretary to a young Chinese guy who has made his fortune in an unspecified TV show. It’s a slack sort of job as mostly I’m just organising his diary and managing his many travels. This evening he comes in saying he fancies some Georgian food and asks me to organise a flight to Batumi asap. I know that his girlfriend (an unspecified leggy model type) is reluctant to travel and book a fli

Shifting shop, eco couple, porridge and antlers

Rating
Monday, March 6 2017

  1. I am in a peculiar shifting shop that changes every hour – first it’s a dance school and I lie on the floor, holding a half-eaten piece of bread in my hand, peeking under a bookshelf where a dancing caterpillar is teaching other blue caterpillars an upbeat dance, like samba. This part I see from beneath the point of view of the lead caterpillar – I can see myself there, my mouth open with amazement and dust bunnies in my hair.   Next it turns into a shop

Rain and the perv

Rating
Friday, March 3 2017

3. Gran’s house at night. Me and Kiddo are getting ready to go outside in the heavy rain to help somebody. She looks doubtful, but I tell her how much fun this is going to be, with exaggerated enthusiasm in my voice, and she believes me. All her rain gear is green.   4. Night, still raining. Me and Kiddo are looking for a place to spend the night and find a shabby-looking hotel. The receptionist is my creepy neighbour K; he gives me the keys to the room and a flash drive with &

Knitter/detective and the desert flood orchestra

Rating
Thursday, March 2 2017

  1. I work in a surreal sort of plant as a knitter, one among many. The rest aren’t happy with their work conditions and go on a strike; however, I take pride in my work and sit high atop a tangle of silver steel pipes outside, knitting with green wool while the others are shouting and protesting on the lawn below. The pipes are cold, although the day is sunny and it is summer.     2. An unfamiliar young woman has a bullet hole in her coccyx. I am her friend and

Lost in translation; also cars and ballet

Rating
Saturday, February 18 2017

1. A black car is sliding sideways on parallel ziplines; it’s attached by the wheels, upside down. I am guiding it along with one hand and, although I can barely reach it, it slides easily. It’s a sunny summer say and we’re in a quiet town, but as I keep most of my attention on the car, I don’t notice much else. A green car is in my way, but I march right over its bonnet. For a moment I see myself from the point of view of the green car’s owner who has heard the

Art gallery streets

Rating
Wednesday, February 15 2017

1. Hometown near my old primary school, cloudy summer day. I’m on a ski lift 20 feet up, slowly moving westwards, with a clowder of cats in the street below me. I look in amusement as they jump to get me, knowing that it is impossible, when a gray cat almost reaches me. When he fails, a ginger-and-white cat takes his place and actually touches my foot, but I shake him off. 2. I board a train after some demon hunting. There are still wisps of smoke around me from the heat of hell and

Flooded hotel

Rating
Tuesday, February 14 2017

It’s night, most of the land is flooded. The black raging sea and distant mountains are visible for a moment when the lightning strikes. There is a hotel on what used to be the beach, but now only top few storeys are out of the water. I had been cowering on the roof for a while with someone else’s newborn baby and an unfamiliar man named Al. The baby is crying and we decide to get back into the building to find food and somewhere dry to sleep as the water doesn’t seem to be

War slave and widower

Rating
Saturday, February 4 2017

The conversations in these dreams were in Old Russian that I barely understood, and responded in modern Russian. 1. There was a big victory parade in a huge, red brick hall illuminated by wagon wheel chandeliers. I was a war slave, one among many, and we were expected to swear fealty to our new masters. The masters had both the Bible and Quran, but I couldn’t make an oath on either, and swore on a fencing manual, after which I had to prove my prowess with a sword. The next day I

Rocky beach and B&B

Rating
Friday, January 27 2017

I'm at the seaside in Scotland, watching the waves with my mother. There is a flat rock with a hole in the middle and with each wave water shoots up from it like out of a geyser. There is another rock standing apart as a small island and I see some movement there, but cannot yet discern what it is. I wade as far as I can, then swim to it and see that those are pink jellyfish and some little stingrays stranded there. I pick up jellyfish, carefully cupping them in my hands and release

Tornado

Rating
Thursday, January 26 2017

Me, Kiddo and my neighbours R and N with their three kids are walking across their field towards the road, chatting happily, when I notice dark storm clouds gathering and starting tornadoes sneaking down like foggy fingers. I scream: "Tornado!" as they stand there dazed and unbelieving. I yell at them to get moving, to run, tell the kids to drop down flat and hold on to fistfuls of grass if they cannot outrun it. The tornado approaches and has dark blue upwards ripples in it; the air i
