Gypsy dance

2. I’m in a huge hall with desks with dusty old computers along the walls and empty space in the middle. The computers work too slowly to download anything, but it’s possible to buy music on USB drives. I read about some books I’d like to read and listen to some music until I’m overcome with the desire to dance. I get up, sing the faster part of ‘Djelem, djelem’ and dance to it. I’m dressed as usual – long skirt, blouse and a cotton shawl, so m

Art vs hive mind

? Night-time, vast flat field. I was sitting on the grass with various craft materials strewn around me, trying to figure out how to weaponize Chinese lanterns. I made a few round lanterns out of embroidery hoops and white silk. The scene was illuminated by burning torches stuck in the ground in a wide circle around me and I picked one of those up to light my lanterns. They ascended about 30 feet and burned up completely. Then I made two square lanterns out of painters’ canvas on

There was a portal under a bridge that connected Capital to Kazakhstan. I travelled it three times with Laura. The first trip I don’t remember that well, but it had something to do with Dwayne Johnson eating pancakes. The second time we went looking for a wedding dress for Laura and in a little boutique bought a long pearly-pink silk dress that she liked. The third time we stayed in a two-storey hotel in a room with two beds and no other furniture. I went to sleep, but when I awoke, th

See?

I was travelling the Apiary side of Hometown, looking for a missing girl. I knew nothing of her, except that she was missing. While travelling on buses and staying in a hotel by the lake, I saw three random people reading Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Then there was a tiger hiding in the tool shed behind the hotel and eating the piglets, which could not be allowed to continue. The shed and pigsty were located in a small backyard and the only way to get there was down a long flight of

Garden party, tribunal and bookstore

1. I lived in an unfamiliar nondescript flat and had neighbours Florence and Florian who were barricading my door with rubbish bags, practically building a wall out of them. I tricked them into removing the bags, although the details of this are fuzzy. I got out and went for a walk in a garden with my mother. It was late summer evening and the garden was exquisite – with small ponds, flowers and trees strung with string lights. Mother told me that she had cooked a piece of honey soap,

Shackles

Sunday, January 22 2017

I was in the bedroom of an unfamiliar artist. There was a round bed with white silk bedding and a huge glass chandelier above it. I had just woken up and was squeezing my feet into shackles that looked like ordinary shiny handcuffs. Then I was trying to get dressed, pulling black silk knickers and a skirt on, which was miraculously quite easy but very funny, and was laughing all the while. The artist was talking incessantly about the significance of the colour white and how h

Vampire hunter becomes the prey

Rating
Sunday, January 15 2017

Mo had kidnapped Michael and locked him in a basement that was quickly filling with water. She did it as an experiment to prove how easy it is to find and kidnap somebody. She was telling this cheerfully while he struggled to stay afloat, clutching at the metal grate covering the basement. I crept down the winding stairs quietly and held her at a gunpoint while she let him out. Then the dream showed Michael as a vampire hunter surrounding a mansion with his people. There was a black

Preparing for the piglet show

Rating
Wednesday, December 28 2016

I was standing in front of a mirror and adjusting the leather straps on a garishly bright and ridiculously ornate yellow crinoline dress I was wearing. I knew I had to prepare for presenting a TV show about pet piglets, but had absolutely no idea what to say. I left the silent empty house and crossed the farmyard to the shed. There were about a dozen black piglets sleeping in the straw. I picked one up, careful as not to wake it and walked in circles around the muddy farmyard, cradling the p

Normal vampire family (Alternating POV)

Rating
Friday, December 23 2016

A girl of about eighteen was hidden in a remote house by her vampire lover; she had a live-in doctor looking after her. The point of view (POV) was alternating between these three characters.  The middle-aged male doctor: The vampire is quite condescending while the girl isn't nearly as dim as he thinks. They live in a remote mansion in snowy countryside, with windows boarded over to make it look abandoned. However, somebody finds out that it is inhabited and we have to leave eve

Thaïs

Rating
Sunday, June 26 2016

Thaïs had a safe house in Hometown where she was hiding from someone wishing her ill. I was one of her ladies in waiting. One day we went for a walk in the wintry hospital park and discovered that the laboratory in one of the hospitals was running experiments on robbing people of their feelings and conscience. They had developed chemicals in the form of white paste for this and a lab assistant gave Thaïs a necklace laced with it. Another lady in waiting took it for her and instantl
