Fever dreams

  3. Garden street flat, evening. I’m assembling a jigsaw puzzle of a world map. It’s nearly complete, but I have just one piece missing. I get a mail pigeon and release it out of the window to fly to FöddFörlorare. I keep fiddling with the puzzle while I wait for the pigeon to return. Also on the table there’s a huge white candle with three wicks and suddenly one of them lights up. BlueOpossum is sitting behind me, typing his dreams on a red laptop and he say

Maze and Pete's hair

  2. I’m travelling a maze of gray concrete tunnels, bridges and stairs, and stationary trains with Mila and Daniel. The surroundings are light and there is no sense of urgency or stress; we walk and climb chatting and laughing. However, all doors are too small for me and on numerous occasions I have to improvise to keep up with my friends. One such door is a very narrow oval metal frame only five feet high. On both sides it’s flanked by low glass borders that Daniel and I ju

Run, Rita, run!

Night-time, seaside road with several houses on a hillside, facing the calm sea. The last house in the row is a safe house, though safe from what is not specified. Several people, including Peter and Methos are hiding in one of the big dusty rooms; it’s apparent that the building has been uninhabited for a long time. I’m watching the events unfold as a disembodied presence at first and alternate between indoor and outside scenes. Outside the streetlights are on and the visibi

Fake lucid dream and false awakening

1. I’m in an empty unfamiliar room. I realise I’m in a dream while looking out of the window at a beginning snowfall over a freshly ploughed field. To test this realisation, I decide to do something that would be impossible for me in the real world and do a handstand near a silver-coloured round fireplace. Everything is very clear – I look down at my hands and make a mental note that there is no wedding band on my ring finger. Near my right hand there are some white birch r

Huge snake

  3. Very cloudy late autumn afternoon. I was going to the Hometown train station, but saw a huge snake poke its head out from behind the train and look at me curiously for a moment. I turned back immediately as the snake was bigger than the train – huge, but weirdly short for its girth. I exited on a narrow Old Town street. Everything suddenly had a surreal quality – things appearing where they shouldn’t and people doing strange things. It looked like a reality show

Radioactive (Alternate POV)

1. Whole dream in twilight. I’m a young man of about 25; I know that I’m also a sort of mutant that never gets old and that radiation cannot harm me. My job is running along the freight train that transports radioactive materials and make sure nothing gets lost or stolen. I run along the left side of the train; the air is cool and the running comes as easily as breathing. Samuel L Jackson is my colleague who runs along the right side of the train. The train cars shine with eer

The cart before the horse

5. Hometown, early autumn. I’m walking around the town centre feeling happy and playful. I’m wearing the long black coat that I made when I was 19. Actually, I feel distinctly 19. I notice Ricardo at quite a distance and make up a game in my mind where I’ll run into him as if by accident, pretend not to know him and make his acquaintance again. It turns into quite a chase down the whole length of the High street. I run, laughing and cannot tell whether he has noticed me and

Seaside, ships, submarines and the talented dog

  7. We’re in a seaside town (Southend?) with Kiddo. We are slowpokes and only get to go to the beach in the late evening when it’s getting dark. We walk down the wide street that leads down to the sea; there are casinos and arcades on both sides. Through the open door I peek into one and see a game where you have to guess the pitch; a big yellow dog sits in front of it and howls along the “Flower Duet” from Lakmé. The dog is winning and coins drop into the

Lost in translation; also cars and ballet

1. A black car is sliding sideways on parallel ziplines; it’s attached by the wheels, upside down. I am guiding it along with one hand and, although I can barely reach it, it slides easily. It’s a sunny summer say and we’re in a quiet town, but as I keep most of my attention on the car, I don’t notice much else. A green car is in my way, but I march right over its bonnet. For a moment I see myself from the point of view of the green car’s owner who has heard the

Art gallery streets

1. Hometown near my old primary school, cloudy summer day. I’m on a ski lift 20 feet up, slowly moving westwards, with a clowder of cats in the street below me. I look in amusement as they jump to get me, knowing that it is impossible, when a gray cat almost reaches me. When he fails, a ginger-and-white cat takes his place and actually touches my foot, but I shake him off. 2. I board a train after some demon hunting. There are still wisps of smoke around me from the heat of hell and
