Shameless

(There was some pre-history of me working in a field with various men, including twin Ruuds, but I don’t remember it that well.) 1. I’m walking towards the school and am just turning the corner to Crest road when I run into the most handsome man who’s walking the same way with his grandparents. His grandmother seems to think we’re acquainted and takes his grandfather by the hand and quickens the pace to give us some privacy to talk. We do so, reluctantly and awkwardly

Make a wish

Saturday, June 3 2017

1. I was in a haunted house with about a dozen other young people, Ricardo, Laura, Max and Ivy included. In a vast hall there was a wide staircase at the far wall and on the top step a black board with shiny white buttons. We didn’t know that yet, but pressing the top button granted you three wishes, for a price. At first we were just pressing the buttons randomly trying to figure out how it works, and the random things we said came true, like “This is scary!” and “Damn,

See?

I was travelling the Apiary side of Hometown, looking for a missing girl. I knew nothing of her, except that she was missing. While travelling on buses and staying in a hotel by the lake, I saw three random people reading Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Then there was a tiger hiding in the tool shed behind the hotel and eating the piglets, which could not be allowed to continue. The shed and pigsty were located in a small backyard and the only way to get there was down a long flight of

Sleepyheads

1. Christmas, an unfamiliar flat where I live with Laura and two unfamiliar girls (maybe Kazakh or Tatar, but they speak Russian). We exchange presents; I give Laura a pack of ribbons and she presents me with a game similar to twister, but here you have to step on small coloured balloons to pop them. Happy and tired I go to sleep. I’m alone in my room, but just as I’m falling asleep, Laura opens the door and shows an uninvited guest in, asking if he can spend the night here. I tak

Inherited cosmea garden

I had sneaked in a choir rehearsal with Kiddo. She was chatting to the conductor (Yuri Temirkanov?) while I sat quietly, knitting with dusky pink mohair. The girl next to me was talking to her brother and, as soon as I paid some attention to them, my mind rapidly filled with the images and facts about their lives. They had lived their whole lives in Japan with their Japanese mother, but their Estonian father had recently died and left them a peculiar garden – a wide flower bed li

Airship crash and butchering gig

Rating
Saturday, March 25 2017

1. A sunny day on a shore where a vast desert meets the sea. An airship has been caught in a strong wind and is rapidly losing altitude. The balloon is squashed in a concave semi-circular shape, and the craft is going steeply downwards and is obviously going to crash. Jacques Paganel is the only person aboard; he isn’t panicking, just looking at the approaching ground with grim determination. I observe it as a disembodied presence flying/falling besides the airship.

Knitter/detective and the desert flood orchestra

  1. I work in a surreal sort of plant as a knitter, one among many. The rest aren’t happy with their work conditions and go on a strike; however, I take pride in my work and sit high atop a tangle of silver steel pipes outside, knitting with green wool while the others are shouting and protesting on the lawn below. The pipes are cold, although the day is sunny and it is summer.     2. An unfamiliar young woman has a bullet hole in her coccyx. I am her friend and

Meat market

Rating
Wednesday, September 28 2016

For work I had to spend the night in the forest guarding two dead bodies - one male and one female. I jumped around on the springy moss to make myself warm, then sat in a discarded armchair. In the morning I returned to the meat market where I worked, and stood between two counters while women in white overalls were discussing me. I went to speak to my boss, but she started screaming at me because she had found stitches in gray wool and glue on the male body, which made the meat unfit for consum
