"Breach of individual separateness"

It was late summer evening by a lake. Some fishermen were getting drunk by a bonfire. They had hung up their fishing hooks from the trees and Vincent led me past the row of them, holding my hand. For some reason I knew I was not allowed to step in the water, but he could, so he waded in the lake leading me just on the very edge of the water. I closed my eyes, trusting him completely and walked, feeling the cold metal of the fishing hooks graze the left side of my neck. We got past them and walke

"Not gonna fight"

1. Before sleep, in meditation I imagined growing a flower for my gran who's feeling unwell. It was a big yellow flower, something between an amaryllis and a sunflower, with multiple blooms. Then I fell asleep and dreamed of putting this flower in a flat box and sending it to her by post. I was also there when she opened it and we discovered that the flower was disassembled, taken apart petal by petal, leaf by leaf, and neatly organised in the box. I was sad that it's broken, but gran sa

Shameless

(There was some pre-history of me working in a field with various men, including twin Ruuds, but I don’t remember it that well.) 1. I’m walking towards the school and am just turning the corner to Crest road when I run into the most handsome man who’s walking the same way with his grandparents. His grandmother seems to think we’re acquainted and takes his grandfather by the hand and quickens the pace to give us some privacy to talk. We do so, reluctantly and awkwardly

Hypnotic schizophrenia and repressed memories

Rating
Tuesday, May 30 2017

  3. A schizophrenic mute girl (Nina) of about 20-22 is walking along the autumn embankment by a river, accompanied by her gran and her aunt. They walk slowly, looking at the passing people, when Nina sees another girl who’s sitting on the steps leading to the water and is sketching a maze in her iPad. She stares over the girl’s shoulder and repressed memories come rushing back to her. For the last few years Nina has thought that she used to have a habit of hiding in a cup

  3. The dream starts at the North Market in Hometown, although I have the dream knowledge that I’m currently backpacking through Asia. It’s nigh-time, the streets are empty. I’m just crossing the road when an average-looking guy catches up with me and offers to show me around; I have a distinct thought that he looks like Moby. On the other side of the road there is a steep sandy slope, barely illuminated by the light of the streetlights seeping through the roadside

Alex. The Summer Show

Rating
Saturday, May 20 2017

6. I had been tricked into going into a dark labyrinthine building to watch a performance called The Summer Show. Admission price was one spoon that I had taken from gran’s kitchen. The show was captivating, although it mostly involved following a choir along the dark corridors; the music they sang sounded like Corvus Corax – men’s voices accompanied by distant drums. All the singers had their heads wrapped in black fabric, but they seemed to know where to go without lookin

Art vs hive mind

? Night-time, vast flat field. I was sitting on the grass with various craft materials strewn around me, trying to figure out how to weaponize Chinese lanterns. I made a few round lanterns out of embroidery hoops and white silk. The scene was illuminated by burning torches stuck in the ground in a wide circle around me and I picked one of those up to light my lanterns. They ascended about 30 feet and burned up completely. Then I made two square lanterns out of painters’ canvas on

Run, Rita, run!

Night-time, seaside road with several houses on a hillside, facing the calm sea. The last house in the row is a safe house, though safe from what is not specified. Several people, including Peter and Methos are hiding in one of the big dusty rooms; it’s apparent that the building has been uninhabited for a long time. I’m watching the events unfold as a disembodied presence at first and alternate between indoor and outside scenes. Outside the streetlights are on and the visibi

Volcano vacation

Rating
Saturday, April 15 2017

I’m on holiday in Italy near a volcano, for one week. On the first two days, several terror acts happen. There had been a film festival and Shailene Woodley got killed. In my hotel room I watch Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart on television, expressing their condolences. On the third day I go swimming in the ocean. On the way back I take a stroll through sunlit gardens on the steep hillside and marvel how quiet it is now that all the tourists have run off. The day after I explore the ru

Plane crash, parachutes and paper planes

  1. London, sunny early autumn day. The Millennium Bridge is lengthways in Thames and I am taking a stroll along it with my fiancé – an unfamiliar bodybuilder in a bowler hat. He doesn’t have a shirt on and I give him a hug to keep him warm, although he says he’s not cold. I joke that with him dressing like that we’d have to have a circus themed wedding. I don’t like how he looks in the dream, but I recognise and feel intense love towards his persona
