Stealth is different

Rating
Tuesday, September 19 2017

I was on what looked like Stealth at Great America, but it was at Carowinds and white. I was on the front row and riding with a manager at the park. He was asking me questions about the ride and how it compared with the other Vekoma flying coaster I've ridden. I said this one was taller and the prototype, so there were differences. I pointed to an extra helix and said the track was on the inside instead of the outside. As we flipped over at the top, I noticed it had brakes before and afte

Jill and I visit Knoebels

Rating
Sunday, September 17 2017

Jill and I were at Knoebels. We got in line for Phoenix and boarded. It didn't go through the tunnel, it just went up the lift hill, which was covered. There was one last hill before the brakes. It had anti-rollback ratches on it, which I thought was funny. We started going down the drop. Then there was a blank spot in my mind, and we were on Twister. We were on the first lift, then went to the second lift. I thought that was interesting. We went down the drop. I wanted to put my arms up

In line for Raptor; elephant ears

Rating
Sunday, August 27 2017

I was in line for Raptor at Cedar Point. The line was different from the actual line. It had a long, straight section next to the loop and zero-G roll, and it was in a field. The line was short, and I was hoping to get in a few rides. I got one ride and ran down the exit, which also was different. It had a queue, and I had to wind through to get out. There also were little gates with latches I had to undo to go through. I ran back to the entrance. I didn't have my counter so I had to reme

Jill's wig falls off

Rating
Saturday, August 26 2017

Jill and I were on Ghostrider, a roller coaster at Knott's Berry Farm. We were seated in different rows and not in the very back. I was in front of her. No one was next to us. We went down the first drop, and at the bottom, she shouted, "My wig fell off!" I turned back, but she looked normal. She said her white powder wig had fallen off. Somehow we were able to talk normally even though we were on the ride.

What's in the shed?

Rating
Saturday, August 19 2017

Jill and I were seated in a middle car on Mystic Timbers. We entered the shed at the end. Music played (it was louder than the music on the actual ride), the lights flickered and moved around, and spiders dropped from the ceiling and touched our faces. The spiders startled me. A girl in front of us had a small flashlight and shined it at the spiders, showing the wires holding them. I laughed. I swatted at the spiders. They lifted up. On the screen ahead of us, a large diamondback rattler a

Under Apollo's Chariot

Rating
Thursday, August 17 2017

Jill, my co-workers and I were at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We were in an area under Apollo's Chariot between the brakes and the station. Abel and I ran under the last two bunny hops on the coaster and pretended we were riding. I said it's a fun section. There was a small stream under the coaster. Everyone was sitting there. Jill complained about a pain in her foot. I looked at the bottom and saw a small twig in her foot, so I pulled it out. Then I saw a plastic stake and told her I

Cedar Point's new gate; slow Gatekeeper

Rating
Tuesday, August 8 2017

Jeff and I arrived at Cedar Point's main entrance just before the park opened. Each line was for a different type of ticket. We got in the passholder line. One side of a large, rectangular gate was open. It didn't have anything in the middle -- just the outside like a box. Jeff tried to close it, but the employee told him to leave it. Apparently it was a sensor and counted people coming and going. We entered the park. Jeff stopped and turned around, so I thought the national anthem wa

Nana is on Tower of Terror

Rating
Sunday, August 6 2017

Jill and I boarded Tower of Terror (or Guardians of the Galaxy). We were in the middle row on the right. She sat in the far right seat. I left a seat open between us, though I don't know why. I buckled my seat belt, which had a cover with a small hole over the button. A woman sat between us and leaned forward as Jill and I talked. Because of the seating mix-up, people were confused about where to sit. They crowded the middle row. The woman was no longer to my right, and Jill wanted me to

Magic Mountain, Dive Devil and a jumping snake

Rating
Tuesday, June 27 2017

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Doug and a couple of other friends. I had a new lens, the 16-35mm f/2.8. We were near Dive Devil (a free-fall ride in which riders are attached to a harness that is attached to a cable, pulled back 150 feet and dropped to swing on the cable). The layout of the park was different. The terrain was hillier. Dive Devil was different. Riders loaded at the bottom of the back tower, which was down a slope. The middle of the ride (where they normally load, and t

Preview of the new Mean Streak

Rating
Friday, June 16 2017

Tim Vines and I were at Cedar Point. The park was giving previews of the new Mean Streak ride. We saw people board in the station. After the brakes or tires dispatched the train, it dropped to the rails (only the upstops were touching the rails) and exited the station. The coaster went down a small drop and turned 180 degrees to the right. It started climbing the lift hill. But the lift track was only about 20 feet long. It was RMC's red track. There was no chain, but somehow it went up t
