A new restaurant in Austin

Rating
Sunday, December 7 2014

I was in an alley in Austin. To my right was a brick building with doors in it. The door farthest from me was open. People were coming and going from it. It was going to be a new restaurant, and they were doing prep work. I walked up to it and looked inside. A few feet inside the door stood what looked like coffee makers. They were about 3-foot-tall stainless steel cylinders. They had paper signs on them. One said "404 Waitress Not Found." I thought that was clever and entered to ta

Visiting a store in Fremont

Rating
Sunday, June 24 2012

I was walking in downtown Fremont. It was different from how it really is. It seemed more quaint and a bit more active. I walked to a store. I tried to pull open the door, but there was no handle. I grabbed the deadbolt lock and pulled, which only opened it slightly. A man behind me says the bar is lower. I grab it and walk in. In the back is a restaurant. I want to go to it, but a counter is in the way. The man who was behind me at the door works there and tells me to come in. I try to g

Quick visit to Ohio

Rating
Saturday, July 16 2011

I was visiting Fremont because I was going to be in the area soon. It was either because I had gotten a job in Toledo or I was interviewing there soon. I drove down fifth street toward the Kroger. I wanted to stop there and see if that store had any Skyline Chili. Then I figured I could drive over the bridge crossing the river and either try to get my old apartment back or visit Vince. Kroger was on the opposite side of the road it really is. I went inside and couldn't find the groceries. It wa

My old apartment

Rating
Thursday, April 22 2010

I was in Fremont and walking around near my old apartment. I was able to get inside it. It was on the ground floor. I wandered around it. The layout was different from the real thing. Lots of my stuff was still inside it. Dressers and entertainment setups were in it and set up. My old TV was set aside in its stand. I saw a guy walk up to the door, so I knew he lived here now. I headed into the living room to greet him. He came in and headed toward the bedroom. I jumped out and said hi. I said I

Two towns combined

I was walking by the railroad tracks in Fremont. I had an American flag with me, and I was trying to tie it to a banner hanging over the tracks. The banner was hanging on two wooden poles on either side of the tracks. It had an Israel flag on one half and was white on the other. I put the flag I had on next to the pole and tried tying it on, but then I heard a train horn. I jumped off the tracks and ran away from them. The train hit the banner, which stayed up on the windshield. I got nervous f

Back at work

Thursday, July 10 2008

I was back at The News-Messenger to work until someone else could be hired. There was a new high-up position created called publisher-editor, and some man took that spot. The positions of publisher and executive editor remained. No one knew who he was, and he was really interactive. He pulled us all aside and made us watch a video and PowerPoint presentation on the future of the newspaper. I didn't like the presentation because he kept interrupting it to ask us questions. After it was over, we

My old supervisor

Rating
Thursday, July 3 2008

I was walking around downtown Fremont with my former supervisor. We walked to the train tracks under the rail bridge, and I told her this is where the trains go to switch cars. As I told her that, some cars came barreling down a track and slammed into some resting cars. The noise was extremely loud. I was prepared for it, so I covered my ears. We decided to walk back to my apartment. I told her about my job prospects. I said I was looking in Texas. I lied and said the Waco job probably wants me

My old apartment

Tuesday, January 29 2008

I was in the apartment in which I currently live, but it was different. The view out the windows was a little different. I could see the train tracks in the distance, and I watched a few trains pass by. It was rainy, and I was staying inside. I walked around to the different rooms of my apartment. It was a two-bedroom apartment, but it had three rooms. The third room didn't count as a room because it was off in a corner of the hall. I walked into the third room. It was full of stuff. Th

Working at The News-Messenger

Thursday, October 5 2006

I was paginating two inside pages for the Fremont, Ohio, News-Messenger. The two pages were next to each other, so when you opened the paper, you could see both at once. One page had a jump from the front page, and the other had briefs. As I was laying the pages out, I decided to put a subhed in the jump story. I wrote a two-line hed that was supposed to be a rhetorical question. After that, I worked on the briefs. The briefs were simple and really short. They spanned four columns, but
