A New York ferry

Rating
Saturday, June 24 2017

I was in New York with a friend (not sure who, possibly Alex M.). She was giving me a tour. She wanted us to go to Staten Island, so we got on a ferry. There were all kinds of different ferries coming and going at the dock. She said we had to buy tickets, which was difficult. She had me follow her. We had to get in a waiting area with benches and pay at a window. The ticket price was $8.49 and was an even $10 with tax. I gave the woman a $20 bill and she gave me back a $10 bill. The digital d

Tour bus in New York

Rating
Saturday, September 24 2016

I was at a plaza in New York. It was crowded with tourists. Zack was with me, though I don't know if he was there the whole time or if he showed up after a while. A large bus pulled up and people exited. Daniel, Blaise and their dad got out. Zack said we were going with them. Zack put a card to a machine and got a ticket for the bus. I had to get a ticket, so I went to the machine. It was a small kiosk about 7 or 8 feet tall. Tickets were $7. I had some $5 bills, a $1 bill and a $2 bil

Taxi in New York

Rating
Wednesday, September 21 2016

I had just gotten off a flight in New York. Somehow I was in the middle of Manhattan instead of an airport. I was near a hospital. I looked at a maps app on my phone and saw where I was and where I needed to go. I was visiting my friend Alex. She lived or was meeting me a flew blocks away. I didn't know how to get there, so I called a cab. When I got in, I told the driver where I needed to be. I sat in the front seat and put my suitcase in the back seat. I looked at the map. I saw a route

Master's talk and Savannah, Ga.'s, transit

Rating
Monday, April 4 2016

I was in an unfamiliar city. I was sitting on a brick wall with several students. They asked me about my work experience. I said I had an internship 10 years ago. They were training for that same internship.    One of them said she was getting her master's degree. She asked if I got mine. I said no. She asked if I was going to get one. I said I didn't need one because my decade of experience trumps that.    It was a little chilly. It was fall, and I was we

Walking in New York

Rating
Saturday, December 26 2015

I was inside an office building in New York. I was talking on the phone with a woman. She was someone I had been talking to on a dating app but haven't yet met (we haven't spoken over the phone either, so I don't know her voice). She was telling me about New York. I was unfamiliar with the city, and she was telling me places to go and things to see. She warned me about rats. Then I was outside. I walked down some streets and into an alley. I saw some rats on an iron fence. She

I lock my keys in my high-rise apartment

Rating
Saturday, December 12 2015

Zack and I were in a high-rise in New York. We were attending a party. We didn't belong there. I needed to go next door to my apartment. It also was in a high-rise. I lived on the ninth floor. Zack and I took the stairs down. We were up really high but still took the stairs. We went to my apartment building. I had left my keys inside and had forgotten the apartment number. We went to the front desk. Nobody was there. I was going to walk to the back room, but Zack rang a bell underneath

Broadway show, president, attack

Rating
Friday, November 6 2015

I was in New York with my former co-worker Joe. We entered a theater to see a Broadway play. Our tickets were for the middle of the section on the right. The play must have been expensive because no one was sitting in the middle section (there were three sections divided by aisles). An usher came in and said people could sit wherever they wanted because the middle could not be empty. Joe got up and went to the front row. I said that wasn't a good spot because he'd get spit on by the p

Meeting Alex's friend

Rating
Tuesday, December 2 2014

I was with my friend and former co-worker Alex. I don't know where we were, but it was indoors. It might have been New York, but I've never been there, so I wouldn't know. (Alex works in New York.) With us was one of her friends, Pam. I met Pam at a conference in 2012 and still follow her on Twitter. I wondered if she knew I was still following her and enjoying her posts. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to come off as weird for following a stranger I had only m

Food stands in Harlem

Rating
Thursday, September 25 2014

I was in Harlem at night. I passed a young Malcolm X. I heard his voice. It was like a voiceover. He spoke about selling heroin, and people (I only heard them; didn't see anyone else) laughed because Harlem wasn't how he described it.  The alleys and streets were narrow. They were crowded with tiny restaurants that sold food through windows. They were like food booths at a fair.  I wanted a drink they were offering. It was something with a Spanish name. I went to one vendor

I tell people about the bad CEO

Rating
Thursday, June 27 2013

I was in the office of a CEO. I don't know what the company was. We were in a high-rise. The CEO stole lots of things from my co-workers. That made me angry, so I wrote an article about it. My article made The New York Times rights away. I saw it on the website on my phone. I picked up a magazine in his office that had an article about him, and I wrote over it in marker to show how bad he was. His office faced Central Park in New York, though I didn't exactly feel like we were in New York
