Magic Mountain, Dive Devil and a jumping snake

Rating
Tuesday, June 27 2017

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Doug and a couple of other friends. I had a new lens, the 16-35mm f/2.8. We were near Dive Devil (a free-fall ride in which riders are attached to a harness that is attached to a cable, pulled back 150 feet and dropped to swing on the cable). The layout of the park was different. The terrain was hillier. Dive Devil was different. Riders loaded at the bottom of the back tower, which was down a slope. The middle of the ride (where they normally load, and t

Unusual coaster restraints; kicked out of hockey

Rating

I was riding Twisted Colossus with a stranger. We were in the front seat. It had unusual lap bars that were just a thin, twisted metal bar. It was sort of like a paperclip. The end had a rubber cap. We got to the end of the first half and climbed the lift hill. I talked to the man next to me. We went down the drop and through the circuit. I liked the airtime but didn't care for the inversions. I told the man next to me that I liked this new style of coaster and the trains, but I wished th

Backward-facing roller coaster

Rating
Monday, February 20 2017

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with my brother and my former co-worker Andrew D. We were on some coaster near Viper and X2. We were in the back seat. It was a new type of coaster. We were standing up and facing backward as we climbed the lift hill. We went through the circuit (I don't remember this) and then boarded again. As we climbed the lift hill, I was telling Andrew that this coaster was manufactured by the same company that made a lot of coasters here. I pointed at some coasters

X is for locals only

Rating
Friday, September 2 2016

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with my brother, Tom Z. and Talaya. Talaya had a kid in a stroller. We entered the park through a tunnel that went under X2. The tunnel split, and we went to the right toward signs that said "local residents only." Tom said we could go because we were with him. We walked on a metal roof over the coaster's station and brakes. Talaya stayed behind with her kid. We entered the station, which was open and unlike the actual coaster's station. The

Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags

Rating
Wednesday, August 24 2016

Zack and I were at an amusement park that was a combination of Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm. We started at Riddler's Revenge. The layout was drastically different in the second half. It started like normal, though I think the oblique loop was removed and replaced with a straight section of track. The drop out of the block brake was normal and gave some airtime, but after that it was different and disappointing. Instead of the first corkscrew, the track just went str

Disneyland and Magic Mountain

Rating
Saturday, April 2 2016

I was at Disneyland with a friend (I don't know who). We walked along a midway and went to a water ride. It was a flume ride similar to Splash Mountain. We sat in the front two seats. The ride dipped into the water when we sat. I didn't like that we got wet. It climbed a lift hill on the side of a hill. To the right was a fence and a big B&M roller coaster. I recognized that land as Six Flags Magic Mountain. I said we should go there next. Then we were on that B&M. It remin

Deja Vu ride is completely different

Rating
Monday, June 27 2011

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Shawn, a college classmate. We got in the line to ride Deja Vu, but when we got to it, it wasn't Deja Vu at all. It was in the same area of the park and had the same colors and name, but it wasn't the ride. This was a big spinning ride, like a pendulum. There were two seats on one end of the arm. They were really close together. We paid for our tickets, because it was an upcharge ride, and got in the seats. Where the seats touched, our arms were pressed to

Bad season pass

Rating
Friday, May 20 2011

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain's entrance with my brother. I was buying a season pass, and he was getting a day ticket. The pass people took my picture, but it didn't come out right. It was completely black, but they printed it anyway. The entrance was open, but they blocked the midway a little beyond that. It was like what Cedar Point does with passhodlers for the one hour of ERT in the morning. There were park police officers at the gates to let passholders through. My brother strolled thr

A ride on the new Superman

Rating
Friday, April 22 2011

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Tom so we could ride the new version of Superman. We walked through the entrance and past a jungle ride. I glanced at a sign by the ride, which was called Safari something, and saw how it worked. There was a triangle-shaped bar above you that you held on to while it pulled you through the jungle. You lay on your stomach. I don't know how your legs were held up. Tom said that ride wasn't there anymore. The sign was just honoring its memory. Then we were at

Waiting for Six Flags to open

Rating
Wednesday, December 29 2010

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with my brother, my friend Tim Vines and a couple of other friends, though I don't remember who. One might have been Byron. We stood around the entrance to the parking lot, and when they opened the booths, we walked through. It cost $10 to park, and we had to pay even though we walked there. Tim Vines and my brother paid, but I had trouble getting the right amount of cash from my wallet. At first I grabbed a $20. Then I grabbed two $5 bills. I found a $10 bill
