Nana is on Tower of Terror

Rating
Sunday, August 6 2017

Jill and I boarded Tower of Terror (or Guardians of the Galaxy). We were in the middle row on the right. She sat in the far right seat. I left a seat open between us, though I don't know why. I buckled my seat belt, which had a cover with a small hole over the button. A woman sat between us and leaned forward as Jill and I talked. Because of the seating mix-up, people were confused about where to sit. They crowded the middle row. The woman was no longer to my right, and Jill wanted me to

Magic Mountain, Dive Devil and a jumping snake

Rating
Tuesday, June 27 2017

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Doug and a couple of other friends. I had a new lens, the 16-35mm f/2.8. We were near Dive Devil (a free-fall ride in which riders are attached to a harness that is attached to a cable, pulled back 150 feet and dropped to swing on the cable). The layout of the park was different. The terrain was hillier. Dive Devil was different. Riders loaded at the bottom of the back tower, which was down a slope. The middle of the ride (where they normally load, and t

A slow, large Music Express

Rating
Thursday, May 25 2017

Zack and I were at a carnival and got on a Music Express. The seats were different from an actual Music Express. They were much wider and could seat four people. There was a divider in the middle and two lap bars for the sides. Zack sat on the inside. I sat to his right in the same side of the divider. A stranger sat next to me on the other side. I wondered if he would slam into me during the ride. The ride started. It went slowly and never picked up speed. I told Zack it reminded me of th

Changing ride at Cedar Point; I see Scott

Rating
Friday, November 27 2015

I was at Cedar Point. The place looked and felt slightly different from how it really is. I was on a midway near the the back of the park. I was watching the Skyscraper ride swing around. It is a large arm that has two seats on either end that swings around vertically. It did one spin, then disappeared behind some buildings. When the next spin happened, the ride was different. One of the arms was shorter and had no seat on it. The third spin had no second arm, and it spun much quicker when th

Different ending to the Harry Potter ride

Rating
Monday, November 23 2015

Meghan and I were riding Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a ride at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The ending was different. We flew over the water back to Hogwarts castle, but instead of being greeted by Dumbledore and the others, we went into a room. The room didn't have video screens like the rest of the ride. It was just an old room with candles and lights. We didn't do anything special or anything dealing with the story. We just maneuvered around the room. I saw t

Cedar Point's new ride

Rating
Tuesday, September 1 2015

I was on my computer. Cedar Point was making its announcement for its 2016 plans. Everyone was expecting it to be a B&M dive coaster, but the announcement took us by surprise. It wasn't even a roller coaster. It was a drop ride. The video with it showed a base of a tower. It climbed upward, showing a text graphic each 100 feet. The top of the tower was 400 feet up. The ride vehicle was up there. It was similar to Falcon's Fury, where the seats flip on the way down. Except the seat

Lots going on at work

Rating
Thursday, March 12 2015

I was doing a broadcast shift at work. Things started off normal, and the room looked the same. The time change has just happened, so the schedule was slightly different. I had the broadcast schedule in front of me and started on California. The office was busier than normal for a weekend, which was a little distracting. But I got the first two fixtures done and ready to send. I didn't send them, though. Then things started to change. I couldn't find the schedule. Instead, I had a

2 swing rides at Cedar Point

Rating
Saturday, May 19 2012

I was at Cedar Point and getting on a new swing ride. This ride was in Frontiertown and near where Wave Swinger was. I got on and was impressed that the seats were held up with chains. There was some kind of big restraint that came down over riders' heads and positioned in their laps. It wasn't bulky or obnoxious. Then I was near the Oceania entrance, where WindSeeker is. I walked around the side of the station building and looked out on Lake Erie. There were a lot of boats and ships on the lak

New rides at Holiday World

Rating
Tuesday, February 7 2012

I was at Holiday World with Meghan, Poncho and other co-workers. I think it was for HoliWood Nights, but I'm not sure. There were a ton of new rides at the park. I got on one, which was like a big swing ride but inside a tent. The seats were simple and attached by chain, like a normal circular swing ride. The ride spun around, and the seats moved up and down pretty far. There was no airtime, and the ride itself was mild, despite all the different movement. Since it was so tame, I grabbed an emp

Deja Vu ride is completely different

Rating
Monday, June 27 2011

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Shawn, a college classmate. We got in the line to ride Deja Vu, but when we got to it, it wasn't Deja Vu at all. It was in the same area of the park and had the same colors and name, but it wasn't the ride. This was a big spinning ride, like a pendulum. There were two seats on one end of the arm. They were really close together. We paid for our tickets, because it was an upcharge ride, and got in the seats. Where the seats touched, our arms were pressed to
