Dancing to '80s music in class

Saturday, September 2 2017

I was in college, but it wasn't the college I went to. We had gotten a big, heavy, wet snowfall. I was walking on campus to a class. Jill was with me. We entered the class, which was shaped like a half circle and had elevated tiers of desks (similar to my freshman English class in high school). We sat in the middle. The professor talked. I got out my notebook. I had one class on top of a half page of notes. I drew a line under that to take notes for this class. The class name was somet

We have to give a student a $3 billion check

Rating
Wednesday, July 26 2017

Jill and I were at a university. We had an assignment in which we had to go to the cafeteria and grab food. We needed a piece of fried chicken and green beans. We had to take them to a classroom and hand it to a Chinese student. Somehow that would complete a transaction of $3 billion. Jill had all these notes on her phone. She had a check or something for it. She wrote out the check, but it was filled out with a different name than hers. We got to the classroom. It had tiered seats and was na

Following a ball on a chute

Rating
Saturday, July 1 2017

Meghan and I were in a building. It had a long track where you would drop a ball and follow along. We followed the track to the beginning because Meghan wanted to drop a ball in. She had a couple of tickets (the currency here), put one in a slot and said she wanted to play. A woman gave her a ball and wrote something on it. As the woman wrote, Meghan gave her two more tickets. I wondered why she would do that because getting a ball was only one ticket. The woman dropped the ball on the wooden

Linda is promoted; I hold a cabinet shut

Rating
Monday, January 2 2017

I was either in Denver or seeing something in Denver on Facebook. My former co-worker Linda had just been promoted to editor-in-chief. The building had a big LED sign on the side of it that congratulated her. It looked like an old neon sign. They changed "The Denver Post" to "The Linda Post," which I thought was clever. Then I was inside a classroom. I was sitting in the back. Linda was at the front, either as the instructor or a guest speaker. A cabinet behind me was full

Grad school classes in the middle school

Rating
Sunday, December 25 2016

Some co-workers, Meghan, Zack and I were taking classes in graduate school. We went into my hometown's middle school. As I looked for my class, I led Meghan around to show her locations and tell stories from my youth about them. I wanted to show her my locker from seventh grade, but then I found my classroom. There were big sheets of paper on the hallway wall that had teacher names on them. I walked by one that had a sheet of paper over another. I lifted the top sheet and saw my mom's

A large room with a lot going on

Rating
Tuesday, December 20 2016

I was in a large room that reminded me of my high school freshman English class. It had a sort of tiered setup, but there were no desks. There were a lot of people there. I recognized a few, such as my brother and my co-worker Kris. There was a professor or theater teacher holding auditions for his next show. I signed up. I either had already done my audition or was going to. The teacher had one-on-one auditions earlier, but now he was doing them in front of everyone. On the other side of the

Not ready for the second day of class

Rating
Friday, December 2 2016

I was in a university building that I had a class in. I had a backpack full of papers and organizers. It was about 12:45, and class started at 1. It was the second day of that class. A line of people waited in the hall. I went to the end of it. I assumed they were waiting for the door to the class to open. I talked with a couple of people in the hall. One of them said she was in the same class as me. I glanced at the class number on my syllabus to be sure, but she was talking about the same c

College journalism class

Monday, November 28 2016

I was in a classroom of about 30 people. Some of the students were my current co-workers. I was the age I am now. I felt like a know-it-all because I have been working for 10 years. I didn't know why I was in this class. My supervisor, Jodie, was our instructor. As people filtered into the class, I talked to the people seated around me. My co-worker Ethan sat next to me. Outside the window I saw a pickup hauling a flatbed. On the flatbed were two cars, one of which was turned sideways. Et

Formica exam

Rating
Monday, April 18 2016

I was at college during final exams, and I was going to a geology exam. I knew the exam was about Formica, which was a rock in this dream. I hadn't studied. I told myself the day before that I would study the book and learn all about Formica, but I didn't. I thought I knew enough about it anyway that I'd do an OK job. We needed a special notebook for the exam. It was narrow like a reporter's notebook, but it was specialized. I had several at home but forgot to bring one with m

Beginning editing class

Rating
Tuesday, March 15 2016

I was taking an editing course taught by Bill Walsh. I don't know why I was taking it because I have had a career for 10 years. In the class were students who had never edited before or only were starting. They had a lot of questions. This class was like a lab with tables. We left and entered a classroom in my middle school. This class had desks. Bill was giving the preliminaries of editing. He said, "What do you do if you don't know something?" No one said anything. Bill an
