A lake freighter sinks the weight room

Rating
Sunday, May 1 2016

I was in a weight room with two unfamiliar men. The room had a window that overlooked the docks in Sandusky. We were apparently above the Jackson Street Pier. One of the men was adding weights to a machine. The weights were blocks of varying weights, from 30 to 105 pounds. He asked for help setting them up. He picked up a large weight (it was maybe 3 feet long) and handed it to the other man. I was worried he'd drop it, but it was plastic and weighed only 30 pounds. He set it on the other

Walking in a river

Rating
Sunday, May 18 2014

I was in a river with another person. I had to walk far upstream and make sure some small lake freighters were in service. People were walking with the freighters. I passed them. As I walked farther upstream, the water got deeper and the current faster. I turned around and waved off one boat. I kept walking. A woman was now walking with me. We turned in a bend in the river. Ahead of us was a large wolf. It stared us down, and I grabbed some rocks and dirt clods on the shore. I threw them at it,

My new job in Ohio

Rating
Wednesday, October 16 2013

My mom was driving my brother and me on Route 6 in northern Ohio. We were driving east. To the left was the coast, and I stared out at it. It was 6 in the morning, but it was bright and sunny. I saw several ships on the lake. They were container ships, freighters and pleasure crafts. We passed by the Huron lighthouse, which made me nostalgic. I saw the nose of the space shuttle and asked what it was doing there. Tim said Ohio was one of the places the shuttles would go because of Ohio's contrib

I have to conjoin a freighter

Monday, January 21 2013

I was swimming in a lake, possibly Lake Erie, and my friend Doug was there. There were three large sections of a freighter ship just floating around. For some reason I took it upon myself to conjoin them. I knew the ship was the Stewart J. Cort, a 1,000-foot freighter. I recalled images of the front and back end conjoined and traveling on the lakes to meet the middle section. I swam toward the middle section, but Doug tried to stop me. He swam underwater and bumped my stomach with his head. He

Leaving New York on a Navy ship

Rating
Saturday, September 15 2012

I was on a Navy ship in the ocean. I think it was an aircraft carrier. We were heading away from New York City. I was in charge of gathering two inflatable life boats in case something bad happened. I gave one to someone and pulled the pin on mine to make it inflate. The person also made his inflate. I mentioned that I was going to give my life boat to Gen. Eisenhower, and someone laughed at me and said that was ridiculous. But I thought it wasn't unusual. As we left New York, I looked back an

Lake freighter accident, and I have to help

Rating
Sunday, November 27 2011

I was on a tall bridge in Duluth, Minn., overlooking the bay and canals. The 1,000-foot freighter Mesabi Miner entered through the canal, turned right and headed toward another canal similar to the entrance canal. It was going extremely fast; much faster than freighters go on the open lakes. It got to the canal nearly below the bridge I was on, except it was going so fast it wasn't going to make it in time. The bow of the boat swiped the canal, ran over it and drove along the sidewalk, running

View from a lake freighter

Rating
Friday, November 25 2011

I was watching a video or something like that (I'm not entirely sure) of a lake freighter. The view was from the pilothouse, which was aft. The boat reached an island that was near Sandusky. It had to go to the right of it because that was the shipping lane. Another boat was coming up the other side of the island and heading toward us. There was no chance of collision.

Cedar Point Halloween preparation and boats

Rating
Monday, September 12 2011

I was in line for Disaster Transport at Cedar Point. I was in the station just before boarding the ride. Some employees were walking around the station. They were wearing normal clothes, not the uniforms. They had on heavy-duty gloves. When I got to the car to sit down, they told me to get up and stand behind the rope again. They were adding paint to parts of the ride. The paint glowed under the black lights in the station. Somehow this was setting up for Halloween. They slapped paint on the ha

Watching a lake freighter load

Rating
Friday, September 9 2011

I was in Sandusky by a dock for lake freighters. It was a coal dock, but it wasn't like the real coal dock. There was a big warehouselike building running almost to a fence by the water. I walked past that and stood against the fence to watch a freighter load. The freighter was a newer boat, with the pilothouse aft. It was loading coal from a newer loader too. The loader was on a long arm and had a pivot that could divert the coal in any direction. The arm was able to move to different hatches wi

Talking about boats in a restaurant

Rating
Friday, September 9 2011

I was sitting at a table in a restaurant with people I didn't know. I might have been an aquaintance with one, but I'm not certain. A man sitting across from me was about my age. He was wearing dark clothes and had black hair. He had some tiny model boats on a plank of wood and a marine radio. I asked him if he liked boats, and he said he did.He mentioned that he liked watching Great Lakes freighters. I asked him what his favorite was. He said Adam E. Cornelius and named a few others. Some had t
