People seem to want my camera gear in Austin

Rating
Wednesday, September 6 2017

I was walking in Austin, though the city was much more built up than it is. There were several skyscrapers on the south side of the lake downtown. I crossed the Congress Avenue bridge heading south. I had my phone out and was taking video. I also had my camera bag with only my 5D in it. Some people from my youth (I don't know who exactly, but they were Navajo and familiar) approached me. They asked me about my camera. I was glad I put my telephoto lens and other gear in a locker. The lock

Magic Mountain, Dive Devil and a jumping snake

Rating
Tuesday, June 27 2017

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Doug and a couple of other friends. I had a new lens, the 16-35mm f/2.8. We were near Dive Devil (a free-fall ride in which riders are attached to a harness that is attached to a cable, pulled back 150 feet and dropped to swing on the cable). The layout of the park was different. The terrain was hillier. Dive Devil was different. Riders loaded at the bottom of the back tower, which was down a slope. The middle of the ride (where they normally load, and t

Lots of food at the new apartment

Rating
Thursday, June 15 2017

I parked in the new apartment complex across the street from my apartment. It seemed like it was still closed. There were "no parking" signs, but I parked anyway. The complex from different from how it is in real life. It was taller and had a big courtyard in the middle. There were lots of shops in the courtyard and the balconies above. I went in and explored. I had both my cameras with me (one had the 50mm lens, the other had the 70-200mm lens). It was busy with people. One shop wa

Showing off depth of field

Rating
Thursday, December 8 2016

Two women and I were in a high-rise apartment unit. I don't know who the women were. They were attractive. I was taking pictures of one of them on the balcony. The other asked me how depth of field worked, so I said I'd show her. I asked her to stand next to her friend so I could take a picture. I opened the aperture all the way, but it went to 1.2. I was using my 50mm f/1.4 lens. It was the same lens and said f/1.4 on it, so I wondered how it opened wider. I took a picture and then a

A lens in a tree

Rating
Sunday, October 30 2016

I was outside in an unfamiliar place, though it might have been somewhere in Austin. I had one of my cameras and my 50mm lens on it. I saw a video camera with a 50mm lens in a tree. It was perched on a wooden ledge. I looked at it and somehow knew it was my friend Danh's. I saw him and asked if I could look at the lens. It was a 50mm f/1.2. I was using the 50mm f/1.4, and I wanted to try the 1.2 to see how it looked. He let me take it down and put the lens on my camera. It was heavy. I wo

Strange telephoto lens in D.C.

Rating
Saturday, September 3 2016

I was in Washington, D.C. I had a long brass cone-shaped device. It screwed on to my camera and acted as a telephoto lens. It also could bend to see around corners or obstacles. The range was incredible. I walked around the mall. It was a beautiful day. I saw some fancy cars and took photos. I walked by a restaurant and saw my childhood friend Stephanie. I approached her, but she didn't notice me. She looked at me and didn't recognize me. I said my name, and she said she had no idea I

My camera is missing

Rating
Monday, June 20 2016

I was with a friend at a busy park. I don't know who exactly the friend was, though it might have been JP. We went to a baseball field to play some kind of game. We went through the gate into the infield while a game was being played.    We stood next to the fence. A young woman got a hit and ran. We were next to first base. She got to the base and overran it, bumping into me. She put her arms out and pushed off my stomach. I flexed abs.    We left the field.

Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain

Rating
Tuesday, May 10 2016

Doug and I were riding Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. We were the only people in the two-car coaster. The ride was dull. It had no drops and seemed to be powered. It just traveled on a flat surface and went into a dark portion. There was no story, and there were no mechanical figures. It was just a dark building. We got back to the station. Doug got out while the train was still moving. I grabbed my camera bag, which was on the floor at my feet, and waited for the train to stop. But i

Outside for my dinner break; can't work my camera

Rating
Wednesday, March 23 2016

I was leaving work on my dinner break. It was still light out. I went outside. My co-worker Billy was there. We crossed the street and headed toward the Circle K on Fillmore and First Avenue. When we crossed at one light, the "walk" signal was different. Instead of a flashing hand, it was a bunny laying an egg. Instead of a solid hand. It had only a finger and thumb out. I said it was clever that ADOT did this for Easter. We went to a park. People were gathering for Easter. I had

Buying a new lens

Rating
Tuesday, October 13 2015

I walked into an unfamiliar camera store. I wanted to buy a new lens. It was a gift to myself for getting a new job. The lens I wanted was a Canon L lens. It was a 400 mm f/2.8. It was shorter and wider than a 400 2.8, which was strange. I saw it in the glass counter and asked if I could mount it to my camera. The worker took it out and set it on the counter. There was a mount on the side of the lens. He told me to mount it there first. It was like a telescope for astrophotography. I felt rea
