Fenced-in walk to the playground

Rating
Tuesday, December 6 2016

Tim Vines, my brother and I were walking toward the middle school playground in Kayenta. We walked down a long walkway lined with chain-link fences. We passed a dog that was walking slowly and looked mangey. It looked at me, so I held my hand out for it to smell. It grabbed my hand in its mouth. It hurt a little. My brother said to let it go so it didn't get mad. It led me a little farther along the walkway before letting go. We kept walking. At the end was the playground. A hose was flai

New language to learn

Rating
Tuesday, November 29 2016

I was in a classroom. Miss Matke, my high school Spanish teacher, was the teacher. She was teaching us another language. This was an upper-level class. Instead of continuing Spanish, we each had to choose a new language. I chose Greek. We each learned a few phrases from our chosen language. I learned past, present and future tenses of some words, and I learned numbers. She asked all of us questions, and we had to answer in our language. I didn't know anything about this language. It was f

Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain

Rating
Tuesday, May 10 2016

Doug and I were riding Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. We were the only people in the two-car coaster. The ride was dull. It had no drops and seemed to be powered. It just traveled on a flat surface and went into a dark portion. There was no story, and there were no mechanical figures. It was just a dark building. We got back to the station. Doug got out while the train was still moving. I grabbed my camera bag, which was on the floor at my feet, and waited for the train to stop. But i

Playing as kids, crossing a dangerous bridge

Friends and I were on a playground that may have been at a school. We were young, maybe 5 or 6 years old. We were playing. It might have been the first day of school. One kid was telling us all the rules and the bullies to stay away from. There were wild animals, such as lions, nearby. We had to walk around something, and there were lots of dogs around. I picked up a stick to keep the dogs away from me. Some Chihuahuas ran toward me. I raised the stick up and made a lot of noise so they'd

My playground house disappears

Rating
Sunday, August 9 2015

I was at one of the schools I went to as a child, either the primary or intermediate school. I was the age I am now, but I was a student.    I was outside on the playground. I didn't have any friends, so I stayed by myself in a small house on the playground. It was more like a shed, but it had windows and had seating inside. It was in a corner of the grounds near a building. It was tucked away, and no one seemed to notice it.    I liked it because I could be a

School playground

Rating
Wednesday, January 19 2011

I was at the intermediate school playground in Kayenta to watch a musical with a friend, Scott. My receipt had the other showed I'd been to on it. Scott sat down on a bench, and I walked toward the basketball courts. People were playing basketball on the courts, and there were people playing volleyball too. A man around my age was throwing up, so I tried to avoid him. I walked in the opposite direction of him, which also was away from Scott. There were some stray dogs around. I sat down on the

At the intermediate school

Rating
Wednesday, April 15 2009

I was at Kayenta Intermediate School's playground by myself. I walked around the basketball courts and found a little basketball. It was a little flat, so I had to dribble it hard. I remembered when I played basketball on these courts as a kid. I'd play full court one-on-one, which was cool because a breakaway meant a dunk on the 8-foot rim. I shot the ball a bit and dunked it once. Then I saw another ball roll by. It was an old Georgia Tech basketball I had, and I wanted it. So I set down the
