In Chicago for an internship

Rating
Tuesday, October 4 2016

I was in western Chicago. I had just moved there for an internship at the Chicago Tribune. My friend Jen from Cedar Point also would be interning. My internship didn't start for a few days. I wanted to start a daily photo project, so I wandered around my neighborhood. A few blocks away was an area I really liked. It had some old buildings and lots of businesses. I waited to cross a street. Four or five preteen boys walked by me with their dog. One of them was trying to get the dog to stay

Outside for my dinner break; can't work my camera

Rating
Wednesday, March 23 2016

I was leaving work on my dinner break. It was still light out. I went outside. My co-worker Billy was there. We crossed the street and headed toward the Circle K on Fillmore and First Avenue. When we crossed at one light, the "walk" signal was different. Instead of a flashing hand, it was a bunny laying an egg. Instead of a solid hand. It had only a finger and thumb out. I said it was clever that ADOT did this for Easter. We went to a park. People were gathering for Easter. I had

High school motel

Rating
Monday, January 18 2016

Tim Vines and I were at our high school. We were outside of the classrooms near the child-care center. I had some English classes in that room when I was a student in real life. The building was taller than it is in real life. We walked up a large ramp to the concrete floor that led to the doors. There were four or five doors on the wall. It had been converted into a motel. Each of the doors led to a room. The classrooms had been repurposed into motel rooms. We were staying in one. We went in

Co-workers, old signs in Tucson, ice cream parlor

Rating
Thursday, December 31 2015

I was in a hotel room with my mom and brother. In a connected room were two former co-workers, Anna Jo and Greg. They entered our room. Anna Jo told me that a planning email my current job sent had an error. A story we said would run never showed.    I looked at the email (she had it printed) and realized that I hadn't made the mistake. I told her this. Then I saw that there was a story coming from her people about the old signs in Tucson. I got excited. Greg asked me about t

My camera disappears

Rating
Thursday, December 10 2015

I was in a city that reminded me of San Francisco. I stepped outside a building and stood on a sidewalk. I had somewhere to go, but I didn't remember what. I looked at a calendar on my phone and saw that I had a job to go to. It was at a pizza place, possibly Papa John's. My calendar said my first day was two days ago and my second day was today. I didn't know how I'd missed this job. It didn't seem important enough to remember. I didn't think they'd care if I came

Taking care of Daniel's dog

Rating
Tuesday, December 1 2015

I was in Kayenta with Zack. We were leaving my house to go to Daniel's house because I had to take care of his dog. I went in the house, and Zack stayed out front. Zack also had a dog he was taking care of. The house was dark. I didn't turn any lights on. I found a container with dog food and a scoop. I scooped food and carried it around the living room. I didn't know where the dog was. I looked out the sliding glass door and saw a dog house. I went outside and poured food in a

Riding a Superman roller coaster

Rating
Monday, August 3 2015

I was at a Six Flags park. I was in line for a Superman coaster. It was similar to Superman: The Ride at Six Flags America.    I was with Leo from the website I used to work on. We boarded on different parts of the train. He sat in the front and I in the back.    The ride was fun. The long straightaways were kind of dull, but the hills and helices were enjoyable. I especially liked the headchoppers entering and exciting the turns. There were two tunnels that had l

Restaurant has odd hours

Rating
Friday, May 8 2015

I was walking around downtown. I neared some stairs that went down to a restaurant below street level. A man was stopped at the bottom of them. I walked down them because I was hungry. The restaurant was closed. A sign on the door listed its hours: "6 a.m. - USA." Another sign said "11-12 LOVE." I didn't know what these meant other than it wasn't open right now. I looked at the man, and he shrugged. I walked back to the street. I headed back to my car, which was

Tim Vines gets in a bad wreck

Rating
Tuesday, April 28 2015

Tim Vines and I were driving around Kayenta. He was driving a large white pickup. It was night. We drove up the hill on the highway, and he pointed out lots of changes in town. Several buildings had been painted bright colors, and many were lit up. I noticed a two-story house on the right that was in brilliant colors. It was so bright, I could easily see it at night without lights. I thought it looked better without the paint because it had the great look of an abandoned building. I was sitti

Fight and a tiny convenience store

Rating
Wednesday, April 15 2015

I was walking in an unfamiliar city at night, though I think it was supposed to be Tucson. I walked in a narrow walkway toward a small trailer. A man approached me from behind. He was asking for money, but I could barely understand him. He had a thick Japanese accent. I started to jog to avoid the man, but he caught up. I told him no a few times, but he didn't stop. I stopped running. He put his hand on my shoulder, and I grabbed it, twisting it. He doubled over in pain. I held on and kep
