Beer

Monday, January 18 2016

I was at home. I think it was first thing in the morning and yet I was arriving home with Sophie before heading to work. There was a faint smell of beer and I queried it. Apparently it was a caseload that had been bought the same day and were in the fridge.  We decided to watch a film so I had inserted a disk in the DVD player and I went for one of the beers and to turn a light on. Then I woke up.

Meeting my brother far away

Friday, April 13 2012

I had  to travel to work many miles away to meet my young brother who had gone on ahead of me. But where was this place? He left me a map with a friend  with details of how I could go by train and then take a 5 min walk to my destination. The map looked so nice and led my thoughts on to a cartography day out that had all the trippers turning  into green monsters.

Living in a church

Tuesday, January 17 2012

I was living in a church. The keys to the church were long and thin and I was carrying them around. My younger brother David was calling me as I walked along the aisle and down a corridor, then my whole family were calling for me. I ignored them all and continued on my way. At some point David caught up with me and we continued to behind the altar to where there was a marble inscribed grave of a man who was buried there.

Born To Run in Google

Thursday, October 22 2009

The dream started quietly as I aquired a fob that would get me into a cricket ground. It was a quite exclusive pass, and a ground staff member came up to me and prepared to show me to my seat. He walked off in front of me and I soon lost him, but was then outside the ground in a Google Live Map. As I moved myself forward down a familiar London street I hear the sounds of Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run. I've never been a fan of the song, but listening to it and looking at my hometown in the drea

Letter of complaint

Friday, December 19 2008

My brother Ian was showing me a letter that he had received after making a complaint about an online CD purchase. The letter read along the lines of 'Dear Sir, Re: the late arrival of your CD  -  we are currently eating our lunch'. The words had been set in a justified formatter on the paper and there were lare gaps on some lines where there were only a couple of words.

Where is my privacy?

Wednesday, February 7 2007

I was going about my business in my room when my older brother walked in unannounced . I complained to him about my privacy, but at the same time a parcel had been delivered to the house and my younger brother's boy had taken it in. He bought it up to my room - opened - and showed me that it was a cd of that horrible Crazy Frog. Looking out of the window I noted that there had not been as much snow as expected during the night.

Big brother's wrecks the neighbours' cars

Saturday, July 22 2006

I’m walking around without my shoes on and carrying luggage from my neighbours house to my house. There are loads of Somalian families walking back past me - probably returning from a school trip. I was in Ian's car as he drove into a silver barrier at the end of my road on purpose, knocking it over and onto all the cars behind it. The reason for this erratic hehaviour? ‘Best you don't know’, he said. He reversed away from the destruction and I got out the car and walked away.

A sarcastic comment as I work late one night

Saturday, June 17 2006

Dad wasn't very happy with me. I had to do some handywork around the house at a very late hour of the night. There was a very young David who had a white streak of hair in the middle of his ginger hair. I was sure I wasn't going to be able to do the work, and was making a sly comment of how I thought it was going to be a quiet night in and how wrong I was. There was also a skit on the 10th anniversary of a comedy political record LP that had sold millions for EMI

The evil newspaper tycoon

Monday, March 13 2006

An evil newspaper magnate and henchman get their just deserts for their evil ways, and I take over the local paper and turn it around. The first copy is ready to go out and so I take a look at it. There is loads of advertising, but it looks good anyway. I want to deliver lots of copies right away, so at Midnight I sell the first copy to my brother David whilst I am walking up a ladder.

My brother's ex

Tuesday, January 24 2006

I was talking to my younger brother's ex Deb about their split in 2000 and was also moving his carpet. I just couldn't look at her face. Sandra was also there and seemed to look a lot like Sophie. I was parking a car, but when I reversed I went too fast and hit the front of the car behind before driving forward again.
