Save The Chickadee, Redux

Thursday, June 7 2012

Vague fragment from a family trip to Tennessee. I don't recall it well at all. I just know that I was at home, and there was a chickadee trapped in our house. Most of the dream consisted of me trying to catch the chickadee with a net. I had to find the right kind of net, which ended up being a small butterfly or fishnet (like the kind you use to scoop small fish from a tank) or something; I obtained this, but I kept getting distracted or delayed in catching the chickadee by various people and it

The Seasons & The Bird

Wednesday, June 29 2011

This is terribly discouraging. I awoke and took detailed notes after having a dream, since it was the most memorable I've had in a while and I wanted to make sure to remember it, but now, even when reading the notes, I barely remember it! Almost always the notes do the trick of jogging my memory but this time they've failed me. I was tempted to just give up and not type up this dream at all, but a TINY image of it remains with me, so here are the notes I took... on couch with dad, lying, talk ab

Hey There, Little Birdie--

Thursday, March 10 2011

Hypnagogic fragment. I often have "micro-dreams" when just falling asleep--these usually involve snippets of dialogue, but can sometimes include brief images. They almost always fade away almost immediately after having them; the thought has occurred to me to write down whatever weird phrases I hear in these dreams when I wake up, but I did so only once; it was something like, "I will not let him injure himself with his own hand" (weird, yes). As I sat on the couch today and started to doze off,

Chickadee-dee-dee In My Tea-tea-tea

Saturday, December 4 2010

This came on the tail-end of a longer dream I've forgotten, though it seemed to involve a lot of me walking around the house and outside possibly observing various animals. It was daytime, indeterminate time, probably overcast. I was at home with my parents. The setting was warped somewhat in that while I was standing precisely in the area in front of the velvet chair, near the far end of the footstool (closest the bay window), facing the main part of the living room (i. e., roughly east), I als

Open-Headed Grackle

Tuesday, September 28 2010

Rather vague by now so I can remember only a part of it. It was daytime (overcast?); I was at home with at least my mother, probably my father too. It was earlier in the day so perhaps it was a weekend. I went to the front porch door to look out at the birds eating. The view of the porch was different from reality, as if the porch were up much higher toward the window (like I was almost at porch level view). I saw at least one, maybe two or three, large black birds hopping around the porch. One

So Much For The Reality Check, Redux

Lucidity
Lucid Intent

Tuesday, January 19 2010

I didn't take notes on this, so even though I had it right before waking up, it's much faded. I was at home in the evening, I believe, with Dad. Ma was not present. It was getting dark outside and I believe it was still winter or thereabouts. I guess we just hung out as usual, though we might have been more active or chattery than in reality, as I was enjoying his company quite a lot. But then he said something like, "Well, I'm going to go out to _____ (insert place name, possibly a bar) for an

Pyrrhuloxia

Wednesday, January 13 2010

I went to look at the birds feeding on the front porch stool feeder. I know! Highly original dream, isn't it? Anyway...it was daytime and seemed overcast though it might not have been winter; I'm not sure. I feel both my parents were home; perhaps it was early afternoon. There was still a feeder in the place of the stool feeder with its pie tin of sunflower seeds, but as in most such dreams the view was a bit different, as if the porch were constructed a bit differently and/or the feeder was a b

Save The Chickadee!

Sunday, March 8 2009

Clear after I had it, but faded by now. I can't recall how it started but I was at home; it was somewhat light outside, so was probably morning, though I'm not sure. I went into the bathroom and was stunned to find a chickadee fluttering around in there, trying to get out. :O ! Somehow the bird had gotten trapped in our house. "Oh, nuts," I said, seeing it. I felt irritated, but only because I have no clue how to handle birds and my parents would just be disgusted by such a thing. (My preoccupat

Bird Trapping

Wednesday, September 10 2008

Basically all I remember of a larger dream is that somehow, a wild bird got trapped in my room, and I was trying to get it out. It was daytime and my parents were home; I remember interacting with Dad somewhat. The bird was medium sized and dull black in color (almost brownish), with either pale eyes or a pale ring around its eyes, like whitish-yellow. Rather plain looking. It was rather frantic and kept eluding me as I tried to capture it so I could release it back outside, so of course I was g

Dropping In, AKA A Bird In The Hand

Saturday, July 15 2006

This was a snippet of a dream from a few nights ago during my nap. I went to the front porch to see if any birds or rodents were eating. It was daytime but kind of dim, maybe early evening. I saw a new bird I'd never seen before land on the porch; it was tan with some orange and looked kind of like a sparrow of some kind. "Aw!" I said to myself, pleased to see a new addition, even if I had no idea what it was. It began to eat. It's then like I was partly out on the porch with it, like the wind
