The Hall In The Closet

Thursday, July 5 2012

Dream from a brief afternoon nap. The order of things is kind of muddled. It started out, I believe, with me playing games on my laptop computer. I think I was either seated in or near my dad's bedroom closet. The look of things was different; there was more room and it was cleaner. The closet, in my dream, had a dark wooden floor, not carpeted, and it didn't seem to have the sloping back the real closet has. (It's located over the back porch steps to the basement.) It was rather dark in there a

Kindle In 3-D

Monday, April 2 2012

Fragment. This might have been part of one of the earlier dreams (see "Window Woes!" and "And Computer Woes, Too"), but it doesn't seem to directly fit into the plotline of either, so I'll post it separately. I believe I was sitting on the toilet in the bathroom. I was holding either a tablet computer or an Amazon Kindle--I think it was the latter, which IMO is basically a kind of tablet. It looked more like the old, plain Kindle such as the one I have, though its capabilities in the dream were

A Rather Muddled NCIS Dream

Friday, December 2 2011

This is from several days ago, at least. I woke up, took an entire small legal pad page-worth of notes, and went back to bed, since I knew that with my incredibly poor recall lately I would forget everything no matter how clear it had been. Well, even with the notes, it was largely faded, and then I never got the chance to type it up! I was going to just skip it, but I have this whole page of notes, and a dearth of dreams recalled lately, so here you'll be subjected to a lot of vagueness.

Might As Well Face It, You're Addicted To Books

Sunday, April 24 2011

I don't recall details, just the theme and activities involved. I was at home with both parents. I think it was daytime but that's it as far as details of setting are concerned. For some reason, at some point, my dad brought up the fact of me frequently buying books online; probably some had arrived in the mail. He warned me that I was getting addicted to this and probably said also I was spending way too much money. I felt hurt and insulted and said, "I'll let you see the details of my bank acc

Whole Lotta Ligotti

Saturday, November 13 2010

Vague by now, but there wasn't much plot to begin with so it's safe to go by general impressions. The dream concerned a writer named Thomas Ligotti. In reality, I first came across mention of his name online some months ago where he was called "more Lovecraftian than Lovecraft," a writer whose work I adore. That comparison intrigued me, but I didn't look into it further until I started getting interested in other Lovecraftian fiction shortly afterward. Previously, I hadn't cared to read most Lov

The Gospel According To HP Lovecraft

Saturday, June 12 2010

Very faded by now, I really should have taken notes, I guess. It seemed to be nighttime (since the lights were on and windows covered) and I was in my bedroom, on or near the bed. I was looking at various things. I think basically I was gathering together various books of mine which were written by or related to the fiction of HP Lovecraft. For example there were books of short stories and then entire novels written by other authors influenced by his work or using his ideas. Some seemed to be mu

My New Room!

Thursday, May 6 2010

I remember woefully little by now though it was detailed while I was having it and I remembered it better shortly after awakening; I wasn't sure if I wanted to take it down or not so it's faded now. The basic plot was that for some reason I was moving into another bedroom. This was a "new" room in that in reality it was unfamiliar to me, but in the dream, it seemed to be part of our own house, and it didn't have the feeling of being a "forgotten room" like I often dream about, but for some reaso

Where Did All These Books Come From??

Monday, November 23 2009

In the morning when my dad leaves for work, I'll often poke around at my books while waiting to say goodbye, longing to have more time to read them and wondering which I should read next. I was doing this this morning and was surprised to find two books I'd completely forgotten I had, The Secret Language Of Dreams and The Secret Language Of Symbols, both by David Fontana. I remembered that I'd had a third book, The Secret Language Of The Soul, that had come along with these as a set, and made a

Ojibwa Texts

Thursday, April 16 2009

I was browsing books at Amazon, only it was sort of like I was looking at real books too. (In my dreams, the Internet often takes on a "real" quality.) I was surprised to find that a third-party seller in Amazon Marketplace had listed William Jones's Ojibwa Texts, Volumes 1 and 2, for sale! You see, in reality, I have NEVER seen both of these books being offered anywhere. The fulltext is available online in the public domain as page scans, and Volume 1 is available in facsimile for

Library Browsing

Friday, January 2 2009

Just a fragment of a bigger dream, mostly forgotten by now. I merely remember being in a library or bookstore or cross between the two, though I believe it was a library. I was with someone else but I don't know who they were; an acquaintance or something, probably male. I don't feel we were really close friends, but I must have known him (?) well enough since I wasn't anxious. When he went off to look at some books on his own I wandered about, browsing things curiously. The library wasn't huge
