Hiking in the Rockies

Wednesday, May 3 2017 Views: 61

I was looking at a map on the computer of a road in Colorado that appeared to be near the land my parents used to own. The road winded a lot and went up through the mountains. It went really high. The elevation change went from 13,000 feet to 20,000 feet. I wanted to see this steep road in street view.

By going to street view, I was transported there. Now I was hiking on this snow-covered, icy road. There were a couple of four-wheel-drive pickups passing by. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it with my car. I'd have to go around. Then I realized I was out there and I'd have to somehow find my way home. I didn't have my smartphone. I just had a little flip phone.

I didn't know how I'd get back. I thought I could get to the highest point and make my way down. I stood there trying to figure out which way to go. Somehow I knew I had to get back to my car to the west or east over this 20,000-foot mark.

I called Meghan but I called her old number. It went straight to voice mail. I said I didn't have her old number and I'm stuck on a really high mountain in the Rockies, as you can tell by my labored breathing because I was walking up a hill. I walked up some steps and went into a brick building. There were people inside. I climbed up steps in the building to a window. I saw similar buildings along the mountain road. They looked like the buildings in the Bavaria section of Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

A man around my age crawled through a little hole to get to a walkway. I followed him. I bumped into him because I had my hat on and was looking down. I said, "Sorry, I couldn't see you." I thought there was a spider in the hole. I said this place reminded me of Bavaria. He asked what that was. I just said German Alps.

I had to try to figure out how I was going to get out of there. I thought I could hike my way out, but it seemed dangerous. I crawled through the little hole and thought I'd go down, not over the 20,000-foot point. I walked along a road. There was a short tunnel. There was a ramp leading up to the tunnel.

An SUV drove up the ramp and hit the wall next to the tunnel, but the vehicle had no damage. I looked at the driver and shouted, "You almost hit me! If you were 10 feet to the left, you would have hit me." He said, "I'm sorry. I'm having a really bad day. The person ahead of me is my ex-wife. She just stole my porch." I told him to do what he needed to do. He drove off, and I thought I should have gotten in his vehicle because he could get me to my car. I kept walking.

Additional Comments:

The last time I was at the land in Colorado was pre-2000. I've never hiked in conditions like this. I have never been to Bavaria. I was at Busch Gardens Williamsburg a few weeks ago.
